Modern Standard Arabic is the most descendant form of the classical Arabic. The modern classical Arabic is used in many formal occasions like news broadcasts, political speeches and most importantly in schools and university education. Basically, it is the language of writing and formal speaking. The colloquial Arabic or Arabic dialect is a form of spoken language where it is used in informal conversations among friends, colleagues, and at home. The spoken Arabic is different between country to country and city to city. Arabic dialects are characterized by the occurrence of geminate consonants in word-medial and word-final position.

Jordanian Arabic is a continuum of mutually intelligible varieties of Levantine Arabic spoken by the population of the Kingdom of Jordan. Jordanian Arabic varieties are Semitic, with lexical influences from English, Turkish and French. They are spoken by more than 6 million people, and understood throughout the Levant and, to various extents, in other Arabic-speaking regions.

Jordanian Arabic consists of four regional dialects: Ammani Dialect (AD) is spoken in the capital city by almost 2 million people who are dialectally analogous to Palestinian Arabic, RNUD is spoken by another 2 million people who are considered native village dwellers especially in the northern part of the country, GD is spoken by black farmers, almost 1 million, in the Jordan valley area, and BD is spoken by nomadic tribes, 1 million, in the desert area from the northern to southern side.
