Meru (Kimeru) is a Bantu language in the Niger-Congo family. Dialects include Imenti, Igembe, Tigania, Igoji, Igembe, Mwimbi, Chuka, Muthambi, and Tharaka. The Meru language is a kind of Chagga dialect. Meru language bears close resemblance to both Kikuyu and Kamba. Key Dialects include Imenti, Igembe, Tigania, Miutini, Igoji, Chuka, Tharaka and Mwimbi-Muthambi (two related dialects). The Imenti dialect appears to be more dominant.
