Tausug is the language spoken by the Tausug people, whose large settlements are found in the provinces of Sulu, while some groups are found in Zamboanga, Cotabato, Davao, and Palawan provinces. It is also spoken in Malaysia,Indonesia and by the expats in USA/UK/Europe/Canada.

Tausug speak bahasa sug, a Malayo-Polynesian language related to the Visayan variety spoken in Surigao, and writen in a Malayo-Arabic script known as jawi or sulat sug. Other ethnolinguistic groups in Sulu include the Sama, the Yakan, the Badjao, and the Jama Mapun.
