Yao (Ciyao, Chiyao) is a Bantu language in Africa spoken in Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia.

The Yao language has four major languages exerting influence on it namely: Portuguese in Mozambique; English and Chichewa in Malawi, and Kiswahili in Tanzania. It is roughly intelligible with the neighboring Bantu languages. Dialects vary as per different regions.
