Kabardian (Adyghe), also known as Kabardino-Cherkess is a Northwest Caucasian language, closely related to the Adyghe language.The Kabardian language constitutes the Eastern branch of the Circassian or Adyghe language-group, the Western subdivision of which is known as Kyakh. These two languages are also referred to as Upper and Lower Circassian respectively.

In contemporary Russian terminology they are called kabardinskii or kabardino-cherkesskii and adygeiskii iazyk. Standard Kabardian is based on the Baksan dialect, spoken in Great Kabardia, which today constitutes a significant part of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic.
Other dialects include : Besleney dialect; Malka; Terek; Mozdok dialect; Kuban and Kuban-Zelenchuk dialect.
