Soninke (sòonìnkànqánnè), spoken by approximately 2 million speakers living mainly in Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, and The Gambia, belongs to the Soninke-Bozo sub-branch of the North-western branch of the Mande language family. Other language units of this group include the Bobo-Samogo group, the Central group, the Soso-South-Western group. Soninke does not have a standard dialect variety and varies as per regional varieties e.g; Kaédi Soninké; Bakel Soninke; Kingi Soninke; Jàahúnú.
