Tuvaluan(Tuvalu, te ggana Tuvalu), also known as the language of the Ellice Islands, is a polynesian language that is related to Samoan and Tokelauan, Tongan, Maori, Tahitian and Hawaiian.

Dialect Group varies as per areas: Northern Islands : Nanumea, Nanumaga and Niutao(slow speech) and Southern Islands : Funafuti; Vaitupu, Nukufetau(fast speech) , Nukulaelae. "Common Dialect" is more standard form which is mix of southern dialect.
