Abkhaz is a Northwest Caucasian language spoken mostly by the Abkhaz people. It is the official language of Abkhazia and also spoken in Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Syria, Jordan and other countries.

Major Dialects : Abzhui, Samurzakan and Bzyb. The modified Russian Cyrillic alphabet currently in use does not fully represent the traditional sounds which include a wavering trill, whistling noises and a prolonged buzz.
